I love you, Dolly Parton!

Yes, that's right. Dolly. I love her. I said it.

Today Sweet P and I went downtown to the main branch of the public library for a special story time put on my Dolly's Imagination Playhouse and the Penguin Players. We heard about this at one of the weekly story times, and I really wanted to take P because the story was an adaptation of Otis, one of our favorite books! My best friend, Sarah, got P this book at our baby shower - sweet little Otis the tractor and the sweet baby calf he befriends. Love it.

The show was not in the Children's Theater, but was in the Auditorium on the 1st floor. I wasn't sure how Sweet P would do because it was a real theater, and she had to sit in my lap for the show. I actually tried to see if she could sit in her own chair like a big girl but she didn't weigh enough to hold the seat down! There was a little intro from Dolly. Turns out she came up with the original songs for the show. "We will always be friends..." It was catchy, trust me.

The Penguin Players were so cool. It was just two guys, a set, an awesome tractor, and a cow puppet. Sweet P, for the most part, sat nicely in my lap, with the assistance of a sippy of milk and some snacks. She would squeal with excitement and sway back and forth when they sang. And she watched intently when the language was filled with energy and varying intonation. I was so excited that she could truly enjoy it. Even though she was one of the younger kids there, and possibly could have been geared toward slightly older kids, I think the show was a very appropriate length.

So, that is why I love Dolly. Do you know about her Imagination Library? If you have a kiddo in TN, he/she is eligible for a free book a month for 5 years! You must check out her website and sign up. http://imaginationlibrary.com/ She truly cares about providing books and learning experiences for kids. A girl after my own heart!!!
